Highways in various parts of the country have been affected by floods and landslides triggered by continuous rain. Some road sections have been completely blocked, while in others, vehicular movement has been disallowed at night.
According to the Nepal Police, considering the potential risk of floods, all types of vehicles are banned from operating on the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunjebesi road section of the BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli every day from 6 pm to 4am until further notice. However, the road section will be open from 4 am till 6pm. .
Similarly, all types of vehicles have been prohibited from operating along the Kanti Highway from 5 pm to 5am until further notice.
Traffic has been halted on the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality–9 after continuous rainfall turned the road muddy.
Similarly, the Saljhundi–Dhorpatan road has been completely blocked after rocks fell onto the road at Dhungekhola in Ward 2 of Panini Rural Municipality, Arghakhanchi.
Traffic has also been halted at Belbagar area, Jaimini Municipality-8, Baglung along the Kaligandaki corridor following a landslide.
The Araniko Highway has been completely blocked after landslides and rocks mixed with mud fell in Jirokilo of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4 and the Kodari area of Ward No 2 in Sindhupalchok.
The BP Highway has been completely blocked due to landslides at Ghumaune, Ward No 7, at Ward No 8 Gimdi, and at Ward No 9 Biruwadanda and Pinthali areas of Roshi Rural Municipality in Kavrepalanchok district.
