Prime Minister Balendra Shah held consultations with representatives of the construction sector as part of efforts to foster an investment-friendly environment and advance economic reforms through the development of physical infrastructure.

During the meeting with the officials from the Federation of Contractors' Association of Nepal (FCAN) at his office, PM Shah reminded that the construction sector plays a vital role in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and building infrastructures. The government is committed to addressing the challenges facing infrastructure works, he pledged.

The PM stressed that the collaboration among all stakeholders is instrumental in ensuring that development and construction projects are completed on time, while also making the development works more dignified, transparent, responsible and results-oriented.

The entrepreneurs associated with infrastructure building who attended the meeting were Nikolas Pandey, senior vice president of FCAN, Mukesh Pant, general secretary Shivhari Ghimire, Bagmati Province vice president BalkrishnaThapa, and former president and advisor Jayram Lamichhane. 

They shared before PM Shah that they were facing numerous hurdles in the construction sector such as delayed payment, time extensions, contract management, rigorous deadlines, price adjustments, and banking and investment concerns. 

They underlined the need for more effective cooperation between the government and the private sector so that sustainability of the construction industry would be ensured. 

PM Shah's chief advisor Kumar Byanjankar, advisor on information and communication technology, Bibek Mishra, and principal private secretary Subas Sharma also attended the discussion.
