At least five people are dead and 86 remain unaccounted for after a fire broke out on a ferry in the Philippines, the country's coastguard says, BBC reported. 

The fire broke out on the MV June Aster as it neared its destination at the tourist hotspot of Coron, in the province of Palawan. 

The coastguard says 43 people have been rescued, according to BBC. 

The United States banned a broad swath of Canadian alcoholic beverages, motorcycles and dairy products from import on Tuesday, sharply escalating an already acrimonious trade spat, Reuters reported. 

The import bans, which go into effect on September 29 and were ​published on the White House's website, came after Canada's own retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods took effect after midnight on Tuesday.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Tuesday it had captured a U.S. uncrewed submarine at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, offering a rare glimpse into how underwater drones are being ​used in military operations, Reuters reported. 

Iranian state media said the vessel was a Dive-LD, a ​large autonomous underwater vehicle built by California defense firm Anduril.

The 19-foot (5.8-metre) ⁠submersible can carry out missions including mine countermeasures, seabed mapping, intelligence gathering and the ​inspection of underwater infrastructure such as cables and pipelines, the company has said.

The UK has announced sanctions on illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, accusing Israel's government of turning a blind eye to the "ethnic cleansing" of Palestinians by settlers, BBC reported. 

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said the move marked the "beginning of a new approach" to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which "not only calls out injustice and suffering but acts".

Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar responded by accusing him of spreading an "outrageous lie" and announced counter-measures including shutting the UK's consulate in East Jerusalem, according to BBC.
