Cabinet meeting at 11:30 am today
A meeting of the Council of Ministers has been scheduled for 11:30 am today, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
The Cabinet meeting will be held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
'Supply of LP gas will be normal in some days'
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has stated that the supply of LP gas will be normal within a few days.
Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry urged consumers not to store cooking gas unnecessarily on the basis of rumours and false information and asked everyone to buy LP gas only according to their needs.
Ministry Spokesperson Netra Prasad Subedi stated that the import and distribution of LP gas in the market are higher than the regular demand and higher compared to the same period last year.
The Ministry said efforts are underway to ensure an effective supply and distribution system through coordination among stakeholders to maintain a balance between the rising demand and supply of the cooking gas.
The Ministry said reform measures have been initiated in coordination with the Nepal Oil Corporation and LP gas industries to ensure transparency and predictability in the import, storage and distribution of cooking gas.
Likewise, the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has intensified market monitoring.
The Ministry also warned of stern action against individuals and firms involved in creating an artificial shortage and engaging in black marketeering in the supply and distribution of LP gas.
EU Ambassador Lorenzo calls on Speaker Aryal
EU Ambassador to Nepal Veronique Lorenzo paid a farewell courtesy call on Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal today.
During a meeting held at the Speaker's office at the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Singha Durbar, matters related to Nepal-EU relations, parliamentary cooperation, economic partnership, development cooperation and various issues of mutual interest were discussed, according to the Speaker's personal secretariat.
Ambassador Lorenzo on the occasion expressed gratitude for the support and goodwill received from the Government of Nepal, the Federal Parliament and the Nepali people during her tenure in Nepal and expressed the belief that the friendly relations between Nepal and the European Union will continue to strengthen in the coming days.
Law Minister Gautama for including NID under PM’s Office
Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, has suggested that it would be more appropriate to place the National Investigation Department under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers instead of under the Home Ministry.
Minister Gautam expressed this view in response to the questions raised by MPs during the theoretical and clause-wise discussions on the Bill to Revive the Previous Provisions of the Nepal Special Services Act, 2042, in the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives today.
The bill concerning the restoration of previous arrangements has made provisions to place the department under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
She argued that the work of the intelligence department is specialized and of a higher level, given that the Home Ministry has assigned responsibilities of regular peace and security, crime investigation, and internal security to the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force.
In the meeting chaired by committee president Hari Dhakal, the members emphasized that since the department was weak in terms of professional efficiency, there should be a legal provision to restructure it in a new way.
