Nagendra Sah appointed as NOC Executive Director
Nagendra Sah has been appointed as the Executive Director of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).
Spokesperson at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Netra Prasad Subedi said that the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday appointed him as the executive director of the corporation.
Sah, a chartered accountant from Nagarain Municipality–3 in Dhanusha, was previously the acting executive director of the corporation.
He has been selected as the executive director of the corporation through an open competition.
The committee formed to recommend the appointment of the corporation's executive director had on August 2 recommended the names of Kaushal KC from Pyuthan and Sanji Kumaar Dev from Saptari for the position.
Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu observes July Mass Uprising Day
The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu today observed July Mass Uprising Day, marking the second anniversary of the historic July Mass Uprising in Bangladesh.
The program was held with due solemnity and fervor at the Embassy premises.
Professor Dr. A. S. M. Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Bangladesh, attended the event as the chief guest, while Ambassador Md. Golam Sarwar, Secretary General of SAARC, was present as the special guest.
Members of the Bangladeshi community in Nepal, officials from regional organizations, including the SAARC Secretariat and ICIMOD, representatives of civil society and think tanks, and members of Nepal's Generation Z were present in the program.
In his remarks, the chief guest, Professor Dr. A. S. M. Amanullah, shared his experiences of participating in the July Mass Uprising and reflected on the factors that led to the fall of the then prime minister, reads a statement issued by Bangladeshi Embassy in Kathmandu.
He stressed that all the stakeholders of the society including political parties must draw lessons from the historic uprising led by the youths and underscored the importance of an uninterrupted democratic process in building a prosperous Bangladesh.
He also highlighted the National University's efforts to enhance academic excellence and expressed interest in expanding research and innovation collaboration with South Asian countries, including Nepal.
Special guest, Secretary General of SAARC, Ambassador Sarwar stressed upon effective regional cooperation among the SAARC member States to realize the spirit and aspirations of July Mass Uprising.
In closing remarks, Ambassador Rahman described the July Mass Uprising as a defining moment in Bangladesh's democratic journey reflecting the collective aspiration of the people for accountable governance, democratic values, the rule of law, and equal opportunities for all.
Government to provide compensation to victims of Sunsari, Siraha incidents
The government has decided to make arrangements of compensation, relief and treatment to those who lost their lives and sustained injuries during recent protests that occurred in Sunsari and Siraha districts.
Dipa Dahal, Press and Research Expert to the Prime Minister said that a Cabinet meeting held today took this decision.
The meeting appointed Prof Dr Khadak Bahadur KC (Parbat) as chairperson of University Grants Commission, Prof Dr Rosy Shrestha (Bhojpur) to the post of Secretary.
Similarly, the cabinet took the decision to approve Statistics (First Amendment) Regulation, 2083, to scrap Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Formation Order, 2054 and to merge Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee with Nepal Transit and Warehouse Company Limited.
Likewise, the government also decided to phase-wise implement Animal Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055 across the country, and to table the Children (First Amendment) Bill, 2083 before the parliament.
Yangki Ukyab appointed as Investment Board CEO
The government has decided to appoint Yangki Ukyab as the Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board.
A Cabinet meeting held in Singhadurbar on Wednesday made the decision to this effect, government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel said.
