Hundreds more flights are canceled as Tropical Storm Dolphin causes flooding in eastern China

Shanghai airports canceled hundreds of flights on Monday as Tropical Storm Dolphin dumped heavy rain in eastern China, causing flooding in places after making landfall as a typhoon the previous day, Associated Press reported. 

Shanghai’s Hongqiao and Pudong airports canceled more than 900 flights, or about 40% of those expected, after about 1,300 were canceled the day before, according to Shanghai Airport Group.

Trump demands compensation from Iran as talks on Strait of Hormuz continue

United States President Donald Trump has demanded compensation from Iran for those he claimed were killed by the country after Tehran conditioned the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz on receiving war reparations from Washington, Reuters reported. 

Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday that his administration was going to seek payment for “50 years” of damages caused by Iran, framing the move as a direct response to Tehran’s claims.

 

Trump signs order to limit childhood vaccines and split MMR shots

US President Donald Trump has signed an order that calls for fewer childhood vaccines and also recommends splitting the mumps, measles and rubella (MMR) shots, Reuters reported. 

"Decades ago, children received only a small fraction of the vaccines required today," Trump said. "In those times, people were much healthier and of course the high rates of autism now observed did not exist."

The president has long cast doubt on the safety of MMR vaccines, but multiple studies have found no connection between the shots and autism.

At least 13 killed in Ukrainian drone strike deep into Russia

At least 13 people have been killed in a Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian republic of Tatarstan, local officials have said, BBC reported. 

They confirmed one child was among those killed, with 75 more people injured as drones hit Nizhnekamsk, more than 1,100 kilometres (680m) from the Ukrainian border. Ukraine's Armed Forces said the city's Tanevo oil refinery had been hit.

It is one of the deadliest single attacks on Russia since the start of Moscow's full-scale war in Ukraine in 2022.
